Workshop A

Making Youth Visible: Using National and State Data to End Homelessness

Two of the greatest challenges in reaching the goal of ending youth homelessness by 2020 are strengthening our strategies for reaching these youth and collecting quality data to shape effective national, state, and local interventions. In this workshop, new national research from the Voices of Youth Count, regional HMIS data, and the results from the CT 2018 Youth Count will be shared.

Workshop B

Pathways to Powerful Youth Outreach and Engagement

Connecticut is committed to reaching our goal of ending youth homelessness by the year 2020. Unaccompanied homeless youth and young adults are a largely hidden population. Throughout the State, many organizations have joined forces in efforts to identify homeless youth and match them to housing solutions. This panel will highlight federal and state goals dedicated to the outreach and identification of homeless youth, and will provide perspectives from organizations making strides in the fight to end youth homelessness. Panelists include staff from The Connection Inc., Women and Families Center, and, Youth Continuum in New Haven.

Workshop C

Common Ground: LGBTQ Youth Homelessness 101

Everyone has a role to play in ending LGBTQ youth homelessness, but first we need to make sure we’re all on the same page! This training is for anyone looking to gain more knowledge and understanding about LGBTQ youth homelessness. Call it a LGBTQ youth homelessness 101; this training covers everything from the drivers to homelessness, to using appropriate language, to best practices for supporting LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness.
