Our Work
Community Impact
CCEH's Community Impact Initiatives (CI) provides local and regional support through our regional community organizers assigned to work with ten year plan implementation groups, Continuum of Care and individual agencies and leaders. The purpose of CCEH's Community Impact Initiatives is two fold: to support and expand the indigenous community leadership which has emerged as a result of ten year planning processes and to assure a seamless connection between local efforts and initiatives and statewide efforts to end homelessness. Ultimately, the goal of this program is to assure measurable results and visible changes with annual reductions in the numbers of, and an eventual end to, individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Connecticut.
Among the significant statewide objectives of the project are:
- Create 6 ten year plans to end homelessness with communities not currently under the coverage of an existing ten year plan within 12 months of the launch of the project.
- Create 17 annual action plans and outcome measurement systems with ten year plan communities.
- Provide on-going tools, community organizing support and information to all 17 ten year planning communities to aid in their implementation and progress toward attaining the goals put forth in their respective ten year plans to end homelessness.
- Assist in creating and nurturing local, regional and statewide partnerships around new and innovative ways to develop supportive housing and implement other proven techniques for ending homelessness.
- Develop one annual policy agenda with each ten year planning community for a total of 17 local policy agendas.
- Develop annual shared statewide and national policy agenda in coordination with all 17 ten year planning communities.
- Develop the capacity of all 17 ten year planning communities to assemble Consumer Councils, which will meet monthly, to empower people who are currently or formerly homeless and to develop their leadership skills to effect local solutions.
