Children in Shelters Program

Funding availability for this program fluctuates. Providers seeking funds for clients should contact assistance@cceh.org to learn if funding is available at this time.

CCEH provides resources, training and technical assistance to improve relationships between family emergency shelter, transitional housing, domestic violence shelters, early care and education programs and other mainstream services.

Children in Shelters is a state Department of Housing funded program administered through CCEH that provides financial assistance for childcare to homeless families living in emergency shelter or enrolled in the CT Rapid Re-Housing Program. The fund supports parents seeking employment and/or sustaining employment until they can access the state’s Care 4 Kids childcare assistance program. Eligible costs may include childcare fees at a licensed facility or licensed individual provider and transportation needs, such as bus passes or gas cards. Children in Shelter provides up to eight weeks of assistance to each family. For more information please see the Children in Shelter guidelines.

Children in Shelters Guidelines, Application, Program Agreement and other documents may be found below. The fund may only be accessed through shelter or CT RRP staff. Please review program guidelines carefully before submitting. Questions related to the program may be directed to assistance@cceh.org.
