Carol Walter, Executive Director x103 | Work cell phone: (860) 558-9203

Carol Walter has worked throughout the state of CT in the field of homeless services since 1987 as a service provider, manager, administrator and community leader. She has operated shelter programs in New Haven, Stamford, Hartford and East Hartford, created and implemented supportive housing programs in Hartford and East Hartford, served on the Board's of both the CT Coalition to End Homelessness and the CT AIDS Resource Coalition, and has worked extensively as a senior manager for a community action agency overseeing not only homeless programs but a myriad of ancillary anti-poverty programs such as employment, energy assistance, youth services, and neighborhood services.

Sorimar Vazquez, Executive Assistant x105

Sorimar Vazquez is the assistant to the Executive Director. She joined the CCEH team in September 2007. She has extensive managerial, administrative and case management experience. She has worked for companies such as Travelers, Department of Transportation, American Airlines, Nielsen Media Research and has worked collectively with the Department of Social Services through managing the Rowe 77 Emergency Housing Assistance Program. She has also volunteered her services in various soup kitchens and nursing homes in the state of Florida . She resides in East Hartford with her 11 year old son Emanuel.

Natalie Matthews joined CCEH in January of 2007 as the CT HMIS Statewide System Administrator and now serves as the agency's Assistant Director. Natalie's primary responsibilities include oversight and leadership over the work of the agency, including the development and implementation of CORE (Coalition Outreach, Research, and Education) and Community Impact Initiatives; production of the Annual Analysis of Homelessness; and development of CT HMIS. Additionally, Natalie works on public policy initiatives for CCEH including the development of CCEH's legislative agenda, and outreach to partner organizations at the federal and state level. Natalie's previous experience included both direct service work and advocacy efforts with a number of organizations, including Center City Churches, and DemocracyWorks. A 2006 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, her studies at UConn focused on social policy and research. 

Katie Martin, MSW, Community Impact Coordinator x107 | Work cell phone: (860) 478-5617

Katie Martin coordinates and provides training for the CT Social Security Outreach Access and Recovery (SOAR) Collaborative, an initiative that brings together different providers to help people with disabilities who are experiencing homelessness, access Social Security benefits. Katie also is the Coalition's primary lead for state legislative advocacy and training, providing updates and regional trainings on legislation impacting homelessness in CT. In addition, Katie coordinates the Coalition's Annual Training Institute held in the fall. Katie previously worked as a coordinator for Keep the Promise Coalition, One CT, and the 2nd Congressional Field Office for the Ned Lamont for US Senate Campaign. Katie is also a UCONN graduate with a Masters degree in Social Work with a concentration in community organizing and policy and planning.

Naomi Elliott-Gallagher, BA, Project Manager x109 | Work cell phone: (860) 833-7845

Naomi E. Gallagher joined CCEH in April 2008 as a Community Impact Coordinator and has since been promoted to Project Manager. She is the primary staff expert at CCEH on direct service provision with expertise in areas such as family homelessness, early care and education, runaway and teen homelessness, and case management. Naomi graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 2001 with a Bachelor's in Education. She began work with after school programs with Meriden high schools and moved on to New Opportunities Inc-Shelter NOW. She was the Senior Case Manager for three years and the Program Director for one year at Shelter NOW's DOC Halfway House. Since joining CCEH, she has become a member of the CT Team on Runaway and Homeless Youth and will participate on the CT Multicultural Health Partnership. Naomi is also a member of the National Kidney Foundation and Lupus Foundation of America.

Lydia Brewster joined the CCEH staff in 2008 and concentrates upon regional Ten Year Plans to End Homelessness. She is the founder and former director of the North End Action Team (NEAT), a grassroots advocacy group serving Middletown's North End neighborhood where she was active on behalf of affordable housing development, public safety and code enforcement advocacy, leadership development, and coalition building. Lydia is the 2006 recipient of Liberty Bank's Community Diversity Award and has been honored by the Connecticut Community Development Association. Lydia holds a Masters Degree from the University of Connecticut's School of Social Work with a concentration in Community Organizing.

Sarah Zucker, BA, Research & Communications Associate x111 | Work cell phone: (860) 985-4552

Sarah Zucker joined CCEH as Research and Communications Associate in May of 2008 as part of the CORE team, working with research, data, and information. She comes from the University of Connecticut 's School of Social Work research department, wherein her last professional focuses were devoted to national domestic violence service evaluation and educational grant assessment in the Hartford Public School system. During her first year at CCEH, Sarah's work surrounded the statewide coordination of the 2009 Point in Time Count, communications, and collaboration in research.

Caroline DiPietro, Project Assistant x101

Caroline DiPietro comes from a background with managerial experience in both the horticultural and restaurant industries as the assistant manager of Holly Farms of Avon and shift supervisor at the 99 Restaurant. She joined the CCEH team as a project assistant in February of 2009, managing the entry of 2009 Point in Time count data. She is currently assisting with Point in Time Count report release as well as event coordination for the Waterbury Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness and other various projects. She has volunteered her time with The Boys and Girls Club of America and the Noah Wallace Elementary School Centennial Gardens.

Kim Gibbs has been employed with ReFocus Outreach Ministry, Inc for the past 5 years as the Program Coordinator. Prior to her tenure at ReFocus she was employed with Catholic Family Services working as a Primary Service Manager with the Empowering People for Success Program formerly know as the Employment Success Program. Kim earned her BA from the University of Bridgeport and Family Development Credential from UCONN. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Human Resource Development/Counseling at the University of Bridgeport. A native of Bridgeport, her goal is to empower individuals in her community to focus on their positive strengths rather than the negative in order to make a positive change in their lives.
